A New Zealand man on Hajj in Saudi Arabia has told Radio Islam about the chaos that unfolded when a 28-year white supremacist murdered 50 Muslims and wounded dozens of others at two Masajid in Christchurch.

In an attack broadcast live on Facebook, Brenton Tarrant armed with semi-automatic weapons targeted Muslims attending Jumu’ah salaah in Christchurch on 15 March.

Feroz Ditta was among those shot by Tarrant.

Ditta is part of the Programme of the Guests of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud for Umrah and Hajj.

King Salman invited 200 members of the families and victims of the New Zealand terrorist attack to attend this year’s hajj.

Ditta says they were listening to the Khutbah when the gunman entered the building and started shooting randomly.

He says the terrorist attack has brought the Muslim community closer together and thanked King Salman for inviting Muslims from across the world to perform hajj.

“The action of one individual has brought our whole ummah together. As you can see for hajj this year, there are people from all walks of life who have been sponsored by the king.”

Waitemata District Commander Superintendent Naila Hassan is also in Makkah to perform Hajj.

Hassan is New Zealand’s most senior police officer and came to prominence internationally after she gave an emotional speech at the vigil in Auckland after the March 15, Christchurch mosque terrorist attack.
