Al Jama-ah has briefed the Mayor of the City of Johannesburg Parks Tau to rename a street in Fordsburg/Mayfair ‘Arafat Street’.

The Chief Whip of the party in the City of Johannesburg and National Chairman of the Al Jama-ah party Abdul-Razak Noorbhai says they’ve had a private discussion with the Mayor last week.

“Last year when the Mayor of Ramallah visited Johannesburg on ‘Human Rights Day’ the two cities signed a twining agreement”.

Noorbhai says they will be unveiling a statue in Ramallah that’s being named ‘Nelson Mandela Square’.

Al Jama-ah is conducting a survey as to the aspirations of the residents whether having Church Street or Mint Rd. as a preferred choice.

Noorbhai has confirmed to Radio Islam News that the Mayor has agreed to the new changes and they will be putting a motion through council on the 25th of February 2016.
