The National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union – NEHAWU are picketing over unpaid salaries by the ANC at the governing parties 6th National Policy Conference.
Speaking to Radio Islam, NEHAWU Secretary General, Zola Sathepe says, “The ANC has not been honest about paying its workers their provident fund consistently including their contribution to the medical aid.”
This comes as the country faces increased cost of living with workers say they cannot afford to go unpaid.
“This has affected us so much as employees as we have just came out of the pandemic [and] their was a deteriorating from cabinet that suggested that everyone was financially affected but it became worse when we did not even receive the increase for the last year and now,” says SARS customs officer, Peace Ntlonti speaking to Radio Islam.
Even though ANC staff members at Luthuli house say they have received their June salaries, NEHAWU says it’s still awaits the payment of other employees and July salaries.
