A 14-year-old school boy arrested for allegedly stabbing and wounding a fellow pupil at a school in Nancefield, near Lenasia, has been released to his legal guardians.
Gauteng police’s Constable Sibusiso Chauke said the teenager appeared in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The matter was postponed to 6 November for further investigations.
The incident was sparked after a fight broke out between the two learners.
“It’s alleged that the teacher was about to start with music lessons under the tree for the Grade 9 learners when the suspect threw a stone towards the victim. The victim then wanted to fight back. The suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim,” said Chauke.
The boy was arrested and charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Two weeks ago, a 14-year-old pupil from a school in Pretoria allegedly stabbed a fellow classmate to death following an argument.
