Police are on the manhunt for five people suspected of taking part in an attack on a KwaZulu-Natal farm that left the farmer dead and two others injured.
The gang tortured 67 year old Winterton sugarcane farmer Mohammad Enger, and his 56-year-old wife Razia and shot one of the farmworkers at his farm last Thursday, the Sunday Tribune reported.
The Muslim couple’s domestic worker Nonhlanhla Gumede said she was awoken by Razia’s screams and moments later had a gun shoved into her face.
Enger died after he was beaten, stabbed and tortured with a hot iron, while his wife Razia sustained burns to her legs and a stab wound to her back.
Gumede, who says she now struggles to sleep at night, was also threatened with rape.
