Murdered Mother & Baby to Receive Islamic Burial

January 20, 2021

By Naadiya Adams – @Miss_Naadiya

Ayesha Nasir, formerly known as Chantelle Ash and her 8th month old daughter Tasneem will receive an Islamic ghusl – which is the washing of the deceased – and burial as it is the final right of a Muslim.

The grisly murder took place last week in Limpopo where Nasir and her baby were found. The man believed to be the perpetrator is Bangladeshi national, Neesham Nasir, husband and father of the deceased.

Ayesha’s mother Annie Ash is devastated and told Laudium Today, “I wish he would have just phoned me and told me to go and fetch my babies, he didn’t have to take it this far.”

The pair met four years ago and made Nikkah just last month.

According to Ash, they were set to have a Christian wedding later this year, “I was supposed to be planning my daughter’s wedding, instead I’m planning her funeral.”

The family have agreed that Ayesha did accept Islam and that it will be acceptable to grant her the right of being buried as a Muslim.

The Central Muslim Burial Team is set to perform the ghusl on Wednesday, with the final resting place for Ayesha and her baby being in Pretoria where her mum Annie lives.

A hunt for the suspect is underway, and police have requested anyone with information of Nasir’s whereabouts to come forth.
