A second bail application for a man accused of killing his wife in Polokwane continues in the local magistrates court this morning.
Rameez Patel is accused of strangling, beating and shooting his wife Fatima in their home last month.
A number of witnesses have come forward testifying why Patel should not be granted bail.
The victim’s family said it’s not easy listening to details of her murder in court.
One of her relatives said they want justice to be served and the family has suffered serious trauma after her brutal murder.
“We want to see justice done. Fatima was like our own daughter and if he’s guilty, he has to pay for what he did to her. It’s been very traumatic for us. No human being can be beaten up and shot dead like that. It’s not right.”
Patel is adamant he didn’t kill his wife and maintained she was killed by a burglar who entered their rented house in a secured complex.
He has pleaded not guilty and wants to be released on bail saying he has been psychologically and emotionally affected by the murder.
The bail application is expected to be concluded today. – EWN
