Paramedics are urging motorists to be cautious on the country’s roads this Easter weekend saying a number of lives were lost during the same period last year.
Thousands of motorists will be travelling across the country to their holiday destinations ahead of the Easter break which begins next week.
ER24’s Chitra Bodasing says motorists must check if their vehicles are in roadworthy condition before departing including wearing safety belts, keeping a safe following distance, taking regular breaks and avoid talking and texting on mobile phones while driving.
“Long weekends and the Easter holidays are almost here and that means a number of people will be on the roads again travelling to their holiday destinations. Motorists have to be cautious and vigilant on the country’s roads.”
She says speeding and driving while under the influence of liquor are two of the main causes of accidents.
