South Africa’s covid-19 vaccine roll out plan has just been outlined by Minister Zweli Mkhize.
He says we can expect our first shipment of one million doses from India in January, and by February we will receive a further 500 000.
Mkhize says the country’s health care workers of 1,25 million are first in line.
According to Mkhize, the department has been working with the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority to fine-tune processes and ensure no delays occur in acquiring the vaccines.
Earlier this month, Mkhize said government plans to vaccinate 67% of the population to achieve herd immunity.
