Police are investigating a case of murder after a 30-year-old man was shot and killed outside a masjid in Springs on the East Rand.
It’s understood Uzair Karolia was leaving the Taqwa Bakerton masjid yesterday after prayers when he was accosted by two armed suspects who shot him several times.
Police say the motive for the shooting is being is investigated.
The police’s Mavela Masondo says no arrests have been made.
“The victim was taken to hospital where he later died. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage but police have opened a case of murder for investigation. It is also alleged the suspects used a silver VW Polo as a getaway car.”
Masondo has appealed to anyone with information about the shooting or could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the police.
