A 36-year-old man has been shot dead after an apparent robbery at a spaza shop in Lenasia Extension 10.
It’s understood three suspects entered the shop on Monday demanding money, airtime and cigarettes.
Police say during the robbery a blue motor vehicle stopped outside the shop when two of the suspects opened fire, and shot the driver before fleeing the scene on foot.
Spokesperson Bafana Ndimande says police are are investigating a case of business robbery and murder.
“The driver sustained multiple bullet wounds and was inside the motor vehicle. The paramedics were summoned to the crime scene and certified the victim dead. The deceased was transferred to Diepkloof Government Mortuary by the pathologists.”
Nadimande has appealed to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to contact the police.
