Major Countries Should Emulate Kenya In Reducing Carbon Emissions – Greenpeace Africa

December 10, 2018

Radio Islam International – 2018/12/10

Greenpeace Africa says despite efforts being stepped up to develop energy sources beyond fossil fuels in Africa, major countries across the world need to also pitch in.

Geothermal energy, generating electricity from hot rocks under the Earth’s surface – has huge potential to provide power while reducing carbon emissions and the alternative power source comprises about 43 percent of Kenya’s electricity supply.

The environmental groups Amos Wenyama says the process can only bear fruit if other countries also come to the table.

“What America does, what EU does, what China does – affects what happens in terms of trying to limit temperature rise.”
