Magoebaskloof Bus Crash Under Investigation

March 07, 2016

Faizel Patel, 2016-03-07

Authorities in Limpopo are investigating the cause of a crash in which at least 10 people, including a baby, were killed when a bus overturned on the R528 in Magoebaskloof, Limpopo.

It’s understood the Sunday school bus was travelling from Moria to Phalaborwa yesterday when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

At least 40 others were injured, 10 of them critically.

The Limpopo Transport Department’s Kagiso Mootane says officials are investigating the cause of the accident and whether the bus was roadworthy.

“We just like to advise our bus companies they must also assist the department by  making sure that they frequently take their busses for weekly roadworthy checking and encourage the drivers to refrain from speeding, complying with the rules of the roads at all times and to make sure they don’t over load.”
