The Attorney for a drug rehabilitation centre in Magaliesburg where a 40-year-old Lenasia man died after being assaulted has confirmed to Radio Islam that while the incident did take place, he is still trying to find out exactly what happened.
Muhammad Sheikh was admitted to the Crescent of Hope facility last month where he was allegedly assaulted by staff and patients.
The Lenasia father died from his injuries on Sunday in hospital after spending two weeks in a coma.
Attorney Yousha Tayob says while he was briefed on the matter he is still waiting for statements to determine what exactly transpired.
“There appears to be some sort of altercation. I need statements from the patients involved, from the security guards involved, from the person in management who was involved and the subsequent intervention of the centre head to bring calm to the situation.”
