Madrassa Zia-Ul-Badr Takes Initiative to Care for Elderly

September 10, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 10-09-2018

Madrassa Zia-Ul-Badr says there is a desperate need for facilities to keep the elderly safe in South Africa.

The organisation which was formed in 1988 held a luncheon event in Johannesburg yesterday to raise funds for the mothers and fathers home.

The R 11 million project is a home for Muslim men and women who need a place of comfort, care and safety in their old age.

Madrassa Zia-Ul-Badr’s Qari Moosa Seedat says more needs to be done for the elderly in South Africa.

“We cannot solve the problems of the Ummah but we can address it. We know the situation in South Africa at the moment and safety is the biggest problem that we have and there are many elderly that are living by themselves in huge homes. They need security and in the last days of their lives they would want to stay in a place where they have safety and security.”

The initiative received a huge boost from social cohesion activist Yusuf Abramjee who auctioned off two of his hajj books “Hajj2016 a Journey” raising close to R150,000 which will be donated to Madrassa Zia-Ul-Badr.

To make a donation to Madrassa Zia-Ul-Badr and support the initiative contact the organisation.
