What is the definition of happiness? With the idea of addressing a trait that many strive for, esteemed Islamic scholar and Radio Islam presenter Mufti Yusuf Moosagie shares 30 ways to be happy, a small step in the aura of seeking contentment with his new book “30 Ways to Happiness.”
The book which highlights various ways in which a person can attain happiness was officially launched on Radio Islam International on Wednesday morning, South Africa’s biggest and multi-award winning community radio station.
During a discussion about the book with presenter Ml Ibrahim Daya, Mufti Moosajee says the book was inspired by the theme discussion during the blessed month of Ramadan which was amid the COVID-19 lockdown.
“One of the suggestions that had come up was ‘let’s talk about happiness.’ Everyone then just felt that the right theme for the month of Ramadan was happiness. I then sat down and thought to myself what topic will I cover in terms of happiness. Considering that, there was a programme over the entire month before the pre-ifthar programme, I thought that 30 days, 30 ways of happiness that is what I would cover and that it where the idea came from.”
Mufti Moosagie says the book has been endorsed by a number of Islamic luminaries.
“Alhmdulillah, we have the preface by Ml Sulaimaan Ravat the programmes manager at Radio Islam, Ml Ebrahim Bham the secretary General of Jamiatul Ulama South Africa and the actual forward by Mufti Rida ul Haq, senior Aalim of South Africa and Pakistan and ustaad at Darul Uloom Zakariyyah.”
Mufti Moosajee shared an excerpt from the book.
“At the outset, we need to understand that happiness is a choice, our choice. We have a choice on how we would like to live our lives. We can choose to live an unhappy life at the mercy of our emotions and of events, or we can choose to live a happy life, to be a happy person. Whatever the circumstance may be, the choice is always ours.”
30 Ways to Happiness is available for R 170 from Radio Islam International Studios in Lenasia, call (011) 854-7022.
