The head of the “Please call me” movement has told Radio Islam what Vodacom is doing the inventor of the service is “Haraam”.

In 2016, the inventor of “Please call me” Nkosana Makate won an epic legal battle against Vodacom when the Constitutional Court ruled the company had agreed to compensate him for the idea, and now had to do so.

The talks deadlocked in 2018 which resulted in the Vodacom CEO, as per instruction of the apex court, determine an amount which he believes is reasonable.

The “Please call me” Movement’s Modise Letsoabe says they will continue to pledged its support for the inventor of the Vodacom SMS service as he takes the cell phone giant back to court.

“If really this is what Mr. Makate is deserving, why don’t we actually support him? So if he’s asking for seventy billion Rand in an 18-year-period, than isn’t it fair for all of us to actually support him.”

Vodacom has indicated that it would oppose the review application.
