The United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has confirmed that the moon for the islamic month of Thul Hijjah was not sighted on Saturday.
Therefore, the first of Thul Hijjah will correspond to Monday the 12th of July 2021.
Eid-ul-Adha in South Africa will be celebrated on the 21st of July.
The dawn of Thul Hijjah concludes the islamic calendar of 1442.
UUCSA’s esteemed Ml Ebrahim Bham says the month of Thul Hijjah is of great importance because of the virtue of the first 10 days of this blessed month.
“Allah (SWT) in the holy Quran takes an oath on the first 10 days of Thul Hijjah. Our beloved Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) has testified that there is no other day in which good deeds are more appreciated by Allah (SWT) than the first 10 days of Thul Hijjah. Amongst the first 10 days also included is the day of Arafah, which is not only beneficial and virtuous for the people who are in Arafah, but it is virtuous for the ummah throughout the world and wherever they are.”
Ml Bham says there is also great significance in fasting on the day of Arafah.
“Whoever keeps a fast on the day of Arafah, Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) said it serves as an atonement for his minor sins for the past and the coming year. May Allah (SWT) make us value and appreciate this first 10 days.”
Ml Bham says may Allah (SWT) make these 10 days as Nabi-e-Kareem (SAW) has outlined its virtue, make it blessed for us and may we value it the way Allah and His Prophet (PBUH) stated.
