Esteemed Islamic scholar Ml Ashraf Dockrat says Marhoom Suliman Mohammad Dockrat was a humble person who cared more for others than himself.
Fondly known as Uncle Solly, Marhooom Suliman passed away on Tuesday in the company of his loved ones at the age of 67 following an illness.
Speaking to Radio Islam, Ml Ashraf says Marhoom Suliman was one of three sons of the late Hajee Mohammed Dockrat who passed away in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
Ml Ashraf says Marhoom Suliman was known for his gentleness and his tenderness.
“He was very much a family person, he made everyone he met and interacted with feel special, feel elevated, elevated their spirits and kept them in good cheer.”
Ml Ashraf says Marhoom Suliman was also a philanthropist, very charitable and also a community leader who assisted people with their difficulties.
“He was also a very down to earth man in his dressing, in his ways and his mannerisms, always ready to serve people himself. At the dhastakhaan at ifthar at Durul Salaam he would go down to the people and serve them and make sure that everybody else in the family and his children are serving the people well. So he was very much a community man, a family man and his generosity to the family is well-known, his generosity to the community is well-known and at International level his generosity is recognised and well-known.”
Ml Ashraf says Marhoom Suliman’s son asked him to share his steadfastness of deen with the listeners of Radio Islam.
“He said that Ml if there is one thing you must say is that ‘papa was special, he was everything that was special about him. But his constancy in his aa’mal, his constancy in his deeds he did everyday was something that was outstanding. Wherever he was in the world and his business took him to the far corners of the world, but he never gave up his aa’mal, his salaah and tilaawat of the Qur’an was always on time.'”
Ml Ashraf says that after Marhoom Suliman passed away on Tuesday, two non-Muslims reverted to Islam at his bedside.
“I’ll tell you something absolutely amazing. We had just received the news of his passing and we went into the room and he was attended to by two male nurses, youngsters, one white gentleman and the other a black gentleman. Immediately after his passing they both took the Shahaadah. They both become Muslims, one at the hand of Ml Muhammad, the other at the hand of Ml Ahmed and almost a living legacy of continuity of this man who had spent his life in serving the course of Deen.”
Ml Ashraf says Marhoom Suliman was also a good businessman who together with his father pioneered fashion clothing under the Fashion World brand.
