Asia Pacific correspondent Kiru Naidoo says there is a lot of chatter in the region that US President Donald Trump’s being infected with the Coronavirus is a hoax.
Naidoo was speaking to Radio Islam on Thursday morning sharing the latest news and updates from the Asia Pacific.
Naidoo says the sentiment that Trump’s COVID-19 status being fake is gaining momentum across the world.
“I don’t think that people in the Asia Pacific are very convinced about him being tested positive for it. Although I’ve yet to see people coming out openly saying this has been a wholesale fraud. But that hashtag of a Coronavirus hoax is something that really dominated the timelines of key people tweeting and on social media in the Asia Pacific.”
With the US elections looming on the 3rd of November, Naidoo says there has been a lot of reaction to the Presidential campaign.
“Lots of political interest in what’s going on in the United States. One indicator is the way for instance is the stock markets have reacted in the past few days. One indicator has to do with the stimulus package that President Donald Trump has been talking about in the wake of the Coronavirus.”
Naidoo also touched on news about China facing challenges with the flu vaccines including the crackdown of Freedom of speech in Vietnam.
