A Syrian activist says Muslims in France have voiced their grievances against the French government with concerns that it is implementing “worrying practices” against the Muslim minority.
Adnan Hadad was speaking to Radio Islam on Tuesday about the latest news updates surrounding Muslims in France and Syria.
Hadad says reaction to the Muslims in France relates to the cartoons of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
He says it also stems from the French government trying to “dry clean” policy when it comes to Islam
“They are trying to expand and broaden this fight and make it sound if Muslim communities in France are basically the reasons for a lot of the problems which is absolutely not true.”
Hadad says there is no liberal approach in France towards Islam and Muslims.
“It comes from the fact that France as a country is adopting this laxity or form secularism that actually confronts religion and that ideology is now being weaponised against the Muslim community. But it the past it has also been used to fight Catholicism.”
Speaking about the latest from Syria, Hadad says the country has become a stalemate.
“Most of the areas that are still contested are basically left to the fate of whatever the Russians and the Americans and basically all the occupying powers that are now in Syria decided to do. So one day you seen an escalation and hundreds of people dying because of some military operations, the next day all these operations are halted.”
Hadad says US President elect Joe Biden is seen as a continuation of the Obama policy which was “absolutely disastrous” for the Syrians who stood against the Syrian regime and dictatorship of Bashar al Assad.
