Husain Mohamed – Radio Islam News – 19.12.2019
Former Johannesburg mayor, and founder of a new initiative, The People’s Dialogue, Herman Mashaba, says South Africa is worth saving.
Looking back at 2019, he says despite inequality, poverty, corruption, unemployment and State Capture highlighting that which is wrong with South Africa, the thousands of submissions made to The People’s Dialogue over the past two weeks, remind him of why the country is worth saving.
The Peoples Dialogue is a movement launched by Mashaba to engage with South Africans about creating a better future and uniting the country as a whole. It requires South Africans to engage directly with Mashaba, telling him what they love most of our country and what they would like to change.
It was launched after his departure from the DA in October this year.
Many South Africans have responded to the initiative, including former DA leader Mmusi Maimane.
Maimane said that he loves that South Africans of all races and religions can get up, come together and work towards common Goals.
Speaking to Radio Islam, Mashaba said he was responding to calls from the public to start his own political party, but in order to consider that he first wants to hear from South Africans what their demands are.
