As Muslims across the globe observe the blessed month of Ramadan, Israel’s nonchalant act of cutting electricity at Masjid-Al-Aqsa and seizing ifthar meals during the great month has drawn widespread criticism across the globe.
The Palestine Information Network’s (PIN) Hafez Ebrahim Moosa says Israel was marking Yom HaZikaron, the National Memorial Day for IDF soldiers and victims when Israeli occupation authorities in an unprecedented move violated the holy site.
According to the Palestinian Information Centre (PIC), Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and preacher of the third holiest site in Islam has called on Arab and Muslim nations to intervene against Israel’s actions.
Pin’s Hafez Ebrahim Moosa says Israeli occupation authorities forcefully broke the doors of Al-Aqsa’s minarets, cut the electrical wires of loudspeakers to prevent the Adhan and seized iftar meals, including threatening to storm the holy place on the final days of the holy month of Ramadan.
“That caused a major stir hampering the worshippers hearing the Adhan as well as the Taraweeh salaah. According to somebody that I spoke to, they said this was the first time that Israel dared to anything like that even since 1967, that’s when the occupation of Al-Quds began.”
Hafez Moosa says that fortunately the Al-Aqsa Waqf stepped in to stop Israeli authorities causing permanent silence to the Adhan at the holy site.
“The Waqf stepped in and restored that connection immediately, but a brazen assault from the Israel side coinciding with the opening of Ramadan. Added to this is the daily skirmishes or the daily attacks on worshippers as they leave Masjid Al-Aqsa in the Bab el-Amud, the Damascus gate area and major call from the Israeli side to storm Masjid Al-Aqsa on the 28th day of Ramadan which would be just after the 27th night.”
Hafez Moosa also touched on news about Israeli settler impunity rising on the Al-Quds of Masjid Al-Aqsa and the dawn of the blessed month of Ramadan in Gaza.
