Palestinian ambassador to South Africa Hanan Jarar has told Radio Islam the attacks on Masjid Al-Aqsa and on the residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in Jerusalem is a clear indication of a Zionist attempt to create a new reality in the holy city of Jerusalem.
Israeli police fired rubber-coated metal bullets and stun grenades Palestinians and worshippers as on Friday night, the 26th of Ramadan while they were performing the Taraweeh salaah.
At least two hundred and five musallees including children were injured in the attack.
Israeli forces also stormed the sound room at Masjid al-Aqsa and disconnected the wires for speakers such that announcements from the Qibli Musallah do not reach other parts of the Masjid.
Jarar says Israel has been trying to impose its control over Islam’s third holiest site and other areas.
“Israel has been trying to impose its control over the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood for a long time, by attacking and intimidating Palestinians who live here, or gather to protest the forced removals of families who have lived here for generations.”
Jarar say the settler collusion to execute the genocidal removal of the indigenous Palestinians from their homes and homeland must be stopped.
“Palestinians have a right to protest against this and defend their beloved Al Aqsa mosque. International community is responsible to bring Israel accountable for such actions as force evictions of civilians from their homes is a war crime!”

Earlier, during the Big Picture programme on Radio Islam, political analyst Abie Dawjee said Israel can do whatever it wants to because it has the full support of the United States and no Muslim country has the power to stand up against the United States.”
