Host of the Big Picture programme on Radio Islam, Abie Dawjee says political analyst Justice Malala has provided an in-depth and accurate analysis of the “revolutionaries” reaction to the deadly violence and looting in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the so-called “Phoenix massacre”.
In an opinion and analysis article in the Sunday Times last week, Malala said the fake revolutionaries will lie to South Africans, ‘will send your children to die in a burning mall and tell you are fighting “the struggle”’.
Phoenix made headlines after at least 20 people were killed over a week ago during civil unrest that government has termed as “a failed insurrection”.
While some residents in Phoenix defended what was viewed as acts of vigilantism, saying they were protecting their community from looters, the killings were criticised throughout the country.
Referring to the article, Dawjee says Malala wrote that the so called “revolutionaries” do not really care for the black people in South Africa blaming President Cyril Ramaphosa and Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan for the events in Phoenix.
“They just want to point at South Africans of Indian origin and inflame racial and ethic tensions. They seek chaos, they seek madness not rationality, they thrive in the sewer. That is what we are faced with, these people must never come to power again. Hey, Justice Malala, brilliant stuff from a sharp guy, Justice Malala saying it like it is.”
Dawjee meanwhile says while the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are very intelligent with highly qualified top officials, their rants in public are calculated rhetoric.
“What these too boys say is just not random talk. They know exactly what they say to attract the masses, the voters. The strategy is well-planned. When they see that there is a large group, a constituency whose vote they can get, they say things that will appeal to that group. The EFF does an excellent job in appealing to the hope of the broad electorate.”
Dawjee says the public rhetoric by the EFF is all politics, done everywhere and by all political parties.
