Esteemed Islamic scholar Mufti Yusuf Moosagie says among the greatest actions after the obligatory deeds is to bring happiness to the heart of a believer.

Mufti Moosagie was quoting a hadeeth by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in Tabrani during his Eid lecture at Masjid Mansoor in Port Elizabeth.

Listen to Mufti  Yusuf Moosagie’s  Eid lecture here:

He says Allah has elevated the action of bringing happiness to believer.

“We are told it is such a great deed, that it ranks after your faraaid. What a beautiful deed Allah has granted us. Bringing happiness to someone is considered to be not only an act of worship, but amongst the highest acts of worship.”

Mufti Moosagie also touched on the question about why some people cannot share in the joy of others.

“I cannot congratulate my brother that his son has become a hafidh because, I have my own insecurities. My son didn’t become, his son has become, so that it why I cannot congratulate him. My son did not graduate, or I’ve been wanting to buy a new car, he has a new car, how can I feel happy for him.”

Mufti Moosagie says bringing joy to another person starts with a simple smile, sharing a compliment or saying a kind word.
