Esteemed Islamic scholar Mufti Yusuf Moosagie says if a person brings joy and happiness to someone’s life, they themselves will experience joy and happiness in their lives.

Mufti Moosagie was rendering the Jumu’ah lecture at Masjid-al-Hilal in Overport, Durban.

While the Muslim community and Islam has progressed in South Africa, it’s sad and unfortunate that the conduct, humanity and social etiquette of some Muslims leave a lot to be desired.

Mufti Moosagie says Muslims are facing huge moral dilemmas on a daily basis.

“We have been gripped by this tug of war between wanting to gain maximum for ourselves and we continuously complain about others not upholding our values and not fulfilling our rights.”

Mufti Moosagie says while people are concerned about their own rights have they considered the rights of others?

He says this attitude of Muslims has robbed them of their humanity.

“We need to move beyond that. We need to move to something more positive. We need to move to such an attitude that would give off positivity and bring change that would be in a positive light.”

Nabi Muhammad (saw) said the most beloved action to Allah after the fulfillment of your obligatory rights is to bring happiness to a believer – To make a believer happy is considered an act of worship.
