A senior consultant at the Institute for Security Studies says Zimbabwe is going through an economic meltdown and President Emmerson Mnangagwa is partly to blame.
Derek Matyszak says when Mnangagwa was elected president of Zimbabwe, he promised political and economic reforms, but this hasn’t been forthcoming.
“The economic meltdown really is not entirely Mnangagwa’s fault, but the absence of political reform certainly is.”
Matyszak also says Zimbabwe’s power shortages is a nightmare affecting even medical facilities.
“I’ve heard of one trauma centre in Harare, they’re spending a thousand Dollars, that’s fourteen thousand Rand per day on fuel to run three generators to attend to patients.”
Matyszak says as Zimbabwe faces economic meltdown, the government has again imposed policy without any legislative underpinning.
