Esteemed and renowned Islamic scholar Ml Sulaiman Moola says Islam has attached great importance and significance to parents.
Ml Moola was rendering a dose of naseeha during his weekly Spiritual Ladder series in a bid to share some advice that is associated with the status parents are afforded in the beautiful religion of Islam.
It’s unfortunate that in today’s times, there are some that have no respect for their mothers and fathers; spewing vitriol and even physical abuse in some cases, Allah frowns upon those who who do not appreciate the value of parents.
Ml Moola says Allah paired the injunction of kindness to parents with Tauheed and monotheism in the holy Qur’an.
“In Arabic they say: ‘Gradually you can offset the favours of every person. But you cannot begin to offset the favours of your father.’ And yet again someone said in paying tribute and homage to the sacrifices of a mum: ‘Every time I endeavoured to enumerate the greatness of my mom, I found myself feeble, helpless and unable.'”
Ml Moola says the scholars have also attached great importance to parents.
“Maqhul who was a great thabi’i, who was from Sha’am said: “Kindness to your parents is an atonement and expiation for major sins.”
Ml Moola sharing advices from his own parents indicated that his mother said: “Kindness to parents concerns every human on earth.” Ml Moola said his father always with tears in his eyes would say: “The day you lose your parents, you will never recall the moments they hurt you, but nor will you forget the moments that you hurt them.”
