Esteemed Islamic scholar Ml Ebrahim Bham says there is a great interaction between conditions in the country and peoples actions.

Ml Bham was rendering a lecture about the current challenges facing South Africans including crime, poverty and disunity among others.

He says people should not take it for granted when Ulama advise the ummah to turn to Allah in time of difficulty or need.

Ml Bham says there is a consequence between Muslims actions, deeds and the situation in the country.

“It is hope that by turning to Allah, Allah will better our actions and through the means of that will better our situation. Therefore, Allah says in the Qur’an, Allah will not punish people when they are turning towards Almighty Allah. Allah will not punish people when they are seeking forgiveness and they are turning towards Almighty Allah. Allah’s wrath and anger will not come upon people when they are turning to Allah.”

Ml Bham also says that Allah mentions in the Qur’an that we should have respect for people of other faiths.

“The word ‘Birr’ in the Qur’an and hadeeth has been used to refer to our relationship with our parents. Birrul Walidain is a hadeeth terminology. Allah in the Qur’an tells us, ‘use that type of relationship with the people of other faiths who do not expel you from your homes and who do not fight with you on the basis of your religion.’”

Ml Bham reiterates that Allah created man in different races and tribes for the sake of identification and not for the sake of superiority, emphasizing that, the most superior are those who are righteous and most pious.
