[LISTEN] Ml Ebrahim Bham Reflects on the Life & Wisdom of Dr. Ml Abdul Razaq Iskander following his Passing

July 01, 2021

Faizel Patel – 30/06/2021

The Muslim ummah including the Ulama fraternity have been left shattered following the passing of Hadrat Dr. Ml Abdul Razaq Iskander.

The esteemed Islamic scholar passed on to the mercy of Allah on Wednesday from COVID-19 related conditions.

Born in 1935 in the surroundings of Abbatabad, Pakistan, Hadrat Dr. Ml Iskander was the principal and ustadh of Allama Banuri Town in Karachi and the Ameer of Wifaqul Madaaris Arabiyyah.

Hadrat Dr. Ml Iskander qualified as an aalim under the great Muhaddith, Allama Yusuf Banuri (ra) in 1956.

He authored and translated more than a dozen of books of which Attariqa-tul-Asriyya has been widely accepted across the globe as an introduction to Arabic for non-Arabic speakers

He was also the first student admitted to the Darse Nizami educational program of the madrassah and later become the principal of the institution.

Hadrat Dr. Ml Iskander was also the ustadh of many of the Ulama in South Africa including the Secretary General of the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa Ml Ebrahim Bham.

Speaking to Radio Islam, Ml Bham says Hadrat Dr. Ml Iskander was a person who commanded great respect.

“Another great aspect that came about with regards to Dr. AbdulRazaq saab was his wisdom and that was something that always shone through throughout his life. He was not amongst those who were very fiery speakers that is normally associated and attached to many of the Pakistani ulama. He was very soft spoken, but he had amazing maturity and wisdom.”

Ml Bham has urged the Muslim ummah to treasure the ulama.

“Respect the Ulama. Even those for example whom you have another view from the Aalim that you are following, still show respect and dignity to that Aalim and in this particular situation we’ve seen so many ulama who have passed on. Let us also take the necessary precautions, but beyond that we make dua that Allah (SWT) preserve our Ulama and those who are alive Allah Ta’ala keep their shadows over us for a long period of time.”

When visiting South Africa Hadrat Dr. Ml Iskander would most of the time stay at Durul Uloom Zakariyya, south of Johannesburg.
