A renowned Islamic scholar says the ability to forgive remains the greatest challenge faced by Muslims on a daily basis.

Ml Ahmed Akoo from Pietermaritzburg was speaking during the social programme on Radio Islam International on Thursday.

Many Muslims today are begging for forgiveness from people they have wronged, but their pleas fall on deaf ears.

Ml Akoo says many people find it very difficult to forgive each other.

“It’s far more easier said than done and to put it into practice is something that remains a very, very great challenge indeed.”

Ml Akoo says the beauty and blessed month of Ramadan serves as the best opportunity to seek forgiveness from others.

“The hearts are so much softer and that fact that we all feel closer to Allah (SWT) in the month of Ramadan, it presents perhaps the best opportunity that we can ever ask for, for us to start forgiving each other for the pleasure of Allah.”

Ml Akoo says Ramadan is the month of compassion and forgiveness and if people can find it in their hearts to forgive others Allah will forgive them Insha’Allah.
