An IT expert together with her husband who developed and designed the Macher App says they created the platform to help and empower home-based industries.

The current economic climate has had a severe impact on South Africans finances and some home-based industries have bared the brunt of the slump exacerbated by the COVID-19 lockdown.

Speaking to Radio Islam, Zaheera Ahmed who hails from Montgomery Park says the app creates a platform for home-based industries to advertise their products.

“A lot of the community groups you’d find the ladies asking around or advertising their products on these groups and this scope is quite limited. So we thought we’d really like to help their businesses grow so that they can experience their own full potential out in the market.”

Ahmed says the app has a lot of potential to assist home-based industries including allowing the vendor to track their products, check stock availability and also using the consumer app to sell their products to the public.

“The app allows a vendor more common with a home business to load their products on the service. It’s certainly got a look and feel similar to Takealot.”

Ahmed says the Macher App which is currently in beta testing is expected to be launched  in a few weeks.
