[LISTEN] Leaked Records Reveal Chinese Atrocities Against Uighur Muslims

February 19, 2020

An Australian born Uighur says newly leaked Chinese records obtained by CNN revealing how hundreds of thousands of Uyghurs have been monitored and detained in heavily fortified detention camps in East Turkistan confirms what activists like him and rights groups have been protesting about for more than ten years.

According to the leak, Chinese citizens can be sent to the camps for reasons such as growing beards, owning passports, or having too many children and their release may depend on how well their family behaves.

This is the third major leak of sensitive Chinese government documents in as many months.

The documents paints a grim picture of what appears to be a strategic campaign by Beijing to strip Muslim-majority Uighurs of their cultural and religious identity and suppress behavior considered unpatriotic.

Speaking to Radio Islam, Arslan Hidayat says while this is the third leak revealing the actions of the Chinese, some sort of action must taken against Beijing.

“When is it going to stop? This is the third leak, especially the concentration camps. Now it’s going on to its third or fourth year now. Obviously threats have not worked, boycotts have not worked. None of these have worked and I believe some sort of military action needs to be thought about just like what happened with Germany in World War 2.”

Hidayat indicates that concentration camps in East Turkistan are filthy, have poor infrastructure, and are packed to busting with prisoners which makes them an ideal breeding ground for disease and infection especially the Coronavirus.

“There have been articles written on the matter, where because we have heard of former detainees saying how filthy the conditions are in those concentration camps and should the Coronavirus spread throughout the camps, then it will be disastrous. We talking about millions of lives.”

Hidayat says videos circulating on social media claiming the Coronavirus has paved the way to many Chinese accepting Islam may be fake or have not been confirmed.
