A Palestinian expert has told Radio Islam Palestinians have described the destruction of homes in the village of Sur Baher near the speration wall as part of ethnic cleansing.
Hundreds of Israeli troops with bulldozers tore down the homes on Monday despite local protests and international criticism.
Residents of the village’s Wadi al-Hummus neighbourhood told local media that 16 residential buildings with about 100 apartments were being demolished.
Professor Mustafa Abu Sway says the destruction of the homes is part of a scheme to separate Palestinians from East Jerusalem from their brethren in the West Bank.
Sway says even if the Palestinian government wants to assist those that have lost their homes, they have very little resources.
“This is a very serious situation and some people stay literally in the ruins of their homes.”
Sway says the law is on the side of Israel and world at large is not doing much to stop demolitions of Palestinians homes.
