A professor from the University of Tehran has told Radio Islam, a book by Gareth Porter titled ‘Manufactured Crisis’ details how the saga about Iran’s nuclear programme is a manufactured crisis to put pressure on the country.
The United Nations’ atomic watchdog confirmed yesterday that Iran is preparing to use more advanced centrifuges, another breach of limits set in the country’s slowly unravelling nuclear deal with major powers.
The International Atomic Energy Agency reported its inspectors verified the installation of new centrifuges.
The agency says all had been “prepared for testing” but none yet tested at the time of the Sept. 7-8 inspection.
Professor Mohammad Marandi says Iran’s nuclear programme has always been peaceful and the antagonism by the US against the country is because of its independent foreign policy.
Marandy says Potter’s book clearly emphasizes Iran has never been actively pursuing a nuclear weapons programme.
“We see that the United States, it’s antagonism towards Iran is mostly directed towards Iran’s support for the Palestinian issue. All the antagonism that we see is basically because of Israel.”
Marandy says the US made Iran invest in a nuclear programme.
“When the revolution happened, Iran had invested in building nuclear reactors for electricity. Many tens of thousands of people were trained in these fields, but it was designed to keep Iran linked the United States and the West.”
The nuclear deal was meant to keep Tehran from building atomic weapons something Iran denies it wants to do in exchange for economic incentives.
