How do you tell the difference between fake and real honey?

Ml Mohammad Patel from Al Khair Honey says many people sometimes find it difficult to tell the difference between the two.

He was speaking to Radio Islam about the powerful healing effects and attributes of honey.

In a hadeeth Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), he refers to honey as the healer of diseases.

Ml Patel has given a clear indication of how to distinguish between fake honey and real honey.

“Very pure honey will crystalize. Crystalize means it will get hard because that is the natural process of it.”

He says in order to prolong the state of honey to stop it from crystalizing, many suppliers heat up the honey which destroys the healing properties.

“It destroys all the enzymes and all the good things in the honey which then becomes syrup and with that process it’s a bit like long-life milk where now it can last longer on the shelves and therefore they can sell. So inadvertently what is happening is that the consumer ends up purchasing a honey which is syrup and that ends up doing nothing to them.”

Ml Patel says that some producers of honey, in order to keep the price down mix it with sugar and other ingredients to bulk it up and therefore reducing the price of the pure honey.
