After years of struggle, the Muslim community of Khaleni (Barbeton) will officially open the Khaleni Masjid on Friday.
Located near the sawmill and Fairview Mine in Khaleni, the masjid has undergone extensive renovations from a small prayer facility built by Malawian nationals in 1973.
Speaking to Radio Islam, Ml Abdoolmajid Banda (Dawood) says the Phiri family in the area among many other Muslims generously contributed towards the renovations of the Masjid, which is administered by the Msikazi Islamic Cultural Training Centre.
“After so many years, there’s been trying. This community has been crying, crying wanting a masjid and all that. So shukran, Allah (SWT) used us to put up this structure.”
Ml Banda says the Muslims of South Africa should make a lot of dua for the Islamic culture and freedom we have in this country.
“A lot of people will agree with me that Alhamdulillah, our Muslim brothers who came from overseas, India, Pakistan, wherever came to this country, they did wonders, a lot of good work. It is about time that the young generation from today must pick it up now and get into this places, townships and start doing our Dawah work. The people of this country, they need Islam.”
Ml Abdul Majid has thanked the Muslim community for their generous contributions to the Masjid project.
