The Gift of the Givers COVID-19 Emergency/Disaster Facility at Nurul Islam Hall in Lenasia has discharged its first patient after being treated for the Coronavirus.
Mr. Pillay who Radio Islam interviewed was admitted last week into the high care section after the facility was just opened.
NGO Gift of the Givers set up the facility at the Nurul Islam Hall to reduce the pressure on the hospital system as the country battles the third wave of the Coronavirus and Delta variant.
Speaking to Radio Islam, Dr Fatima Lambat says Mr Pillay who was severely infected with COVID-19 is glad to be discharged.
“He required very high flows of oxygen. His experience was remarkable, he was so happy and the smile on his face can never be described. The satisfaction that all of us even the community members can get from this patients smile can never be replaced.”
Lambat also thanked the community and volunteers who sacrificed their time to contribute to the COVID-19 Emergency/Disaster Facility.
“I thank you all and your reward lies with Almighty Allah, you reward lies in these patients who are smiling, with the family members who get their family member back home.”
The COVID-19 Emergency/Disaster Facility at the Nurul Islam Hall serves the entire community irrespective of race, creed or colour.
