Deputy Minister of Education Enver Surty says his new book is a collection of stories that reflects on his professional, social and political life.
Surty’s new book “In Pursuit of Dignity” is being launched at various venues across South Africa with a number of speakers including transport minister Blade Nzimande, Higher Education Minister Naledi Pandor and MEC for roads and transport Ismail Vadi.
Hailing from Rustenburg in the North West, Surtee has a long history of dedicated service to his community and the people of South Africa.
Speaking to Radio Islam, Surtee says the book provides a perspective of South Africa during the apartheid era.
“The book is less about education but more about the constitution, its power, its value and the role that we were fortunate enough to play in that particular process. But it also speaks to education and that challenges that we are facing.”
According to NGO Awqaf SA, all proceeds of the book will be donated as an endowment for early childhood development for children with disabilities and to promote young black writers.
