Health Minister Dr. Zweli Mkhize says is safer to stay at home during the lockdown to avoid an increase in COVID-19 community infections.
Mkhize was answering a question from Radio Islam on Saturday with regards to the relaxed attitude in some communities where people are not abiding by the rules and regulations of the lockdown.
Mkhize also announced an increase in the number of COVID-19 deaths saying the number had increased to 52, while the number of infections had risen to 3,034.
Mkhize says while there are people who do need essential items, others are violating the rules by not focusing on the “stay at home message.”
“That message is very, very important. And when you begin to understand what it means, it basically means you might just get out and come back with an infection and infect your entire family. That message needs to be understood very strongly, that it is not safe to move out.”
Mkhize they have analyzed data which shows that the Coronavirus infection is spreading because people are not heeding the lockdown regulations.
