A student of Darul Iftaa in the Western Cape has been killed in a gang related shooting in Mitchells Plain.
It’s understood, Ebrahim Lambert went to fetch water last night due to the apparent water shortage when he was accosted by unknown suspects.
According his father-in-law Mufti Ebrahim Smith, Lambert was questioned by the suspects whether he was part of a gang.
Mufti Ebrahim says Lambert was then shot several times.
“A few people got out and they questioned him if he’s in a gang. He told them ‘no you can see that I’m wearing all my Islamic attire. A person got up as he walked away and shot him point blank in the head. And then they emptied the gun on him, about 16 shots in total were fired and he was killed instantly.”
Mufti Ebrahim says the situation and atmosphere in Mitchells Plain is very volatile.
“It’s mostly Muslim’s killing Muslims here. Gangsterism has become unbearable. We need to make constant dua, give dawat to these people because its affecting society in such a way the Masaajid is becoming empty, the Madaaris is becoming empty and people cannot take their children to school anymore.”
Mufti Ebrahim has urged the Muslim community to make Dua that Allah alleviate the difficulties of the people of Cape Town.
