Trade union federation Cosatu says it is concerned about the divisions within the African National Congress (ANC) and that the party is unable to focus on rebuilding South Africa.

Cosatu’s Mathew Parks was speaking to Radio Islam on Tuesday about Jacob Zuma’s leaked notes of a meeting between the ANC’S Top Six and the former president.

The ANC has acknowledged the release of the 23-page letter, but says the outcome of the meeting with Zuma was communicated to both the media and the public.

However, there are differences to what secretary general Ace Magashule related to the public and what the leaked Zuma report revealed.

Cosatu, which is also in a tripartite alliance with the ruling party, says Zuma must stop playing victim.

Parks says Cosatu says they are not sympathetic to Zuma.

“He is playing a pathetic, narcissistic petty game, he can’t claim victim.  He was the deputy president for six years, he was the president of the country for nine years, it’s ironic for him now to claim victim. But the reality is that many workers lost their wages, pensions and their jobs in state-owned enterprises where his friends, his Gupta buddies ran into the ground.”

Parks says Zuma is delusional about being sold out by President Cyril Ramaphosa, Mandla Mandela and being betrayed by almost everyone.

“The only betrayal we know about is a former head of state who sold this country out for a few rands to his friends and family, that’s a betrayal and that should be taken to court.”

Parks says the Zondo Commission must “stop playing with kid gloves, it has the powers of a court” and the “the police must fetch Zuma is he reluctant to appear before it.”
