Can an ordinary person see Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in a dream?

This was the question that was posed to Mufti Shafique Jakhura during Radio Islam’s weekly Fiqh Q & A programme on Monday.

While Sahaba (RA) had the great privilege and honour of seeing and spending time in the company of the greatest human to have set foot on this earth, as followers of the last prophet of Allah, many have the desire have  to have a glimpse of the man who spread the religion of Islam across the globe.

Mufti Jakhura says to see Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in a dream is a great privilege and honour.

“There is great virtue in seeing Rasulullah (SAW) in a person’s dream, in a condition that Nabi (SAW) is pleased with him. But if a person sees Nabi (SAW) in a dream and Nabi (SAW) rebuking him or he is scolding him, than that can become a very difficult thing as well.”

Mufti Jakhura says it is possible to see Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in a dream.

“The greater the love for Rasulullah (SAW) and for the Sunnah, the greater the chance of seeing Rasul-e-Paak (SAW) in a person’s dream. Therefore, a person must strive to increase the love of Nabi (SAW) in his heart. Then Insha’Allah, Allah if He wills show Nabi (SAW) in the dream.”

Mufti Jakhura shared some simple advice to increase the love for Nabi (SAW) adding that excessive recitation of durood and salaam is something that increases the love of Nabi (SAW).
