Senior Pakistani Journalist Rahimullah Yusufzai says while Pakistan is trying to highlight the blockade on Kashmir and carrying out diplomatic effort to resolve the crisis, there have been calls for violence against India.

The reports on the blockade has been somewhat muted after the Indian government revoked the special status accorded to Indian-administered Kashmir in its constitution.

The decision is the most far-reaching political move on the disputed region in nearly 70 years.

A presidential decree issued on August 5 revoked Article 370 of India’s constitution that guaranteed special rights to the Muslim-majority state, including the right to its own constitution and autonomy to make laws on all matters except defence, communications and foreign affairs.

Yusufzai says the blockade has resulted in radical calls to end the dispute.

“There were calls by some people, by Islamic parties and some of the radical groups that they should wage a war against India. Even the Prime Minister of Pakistani-Kashmir, he said that ‘we should have a total and complete war against India to liberate the Indian occupied Kashmir.’”

Yusufzai however says Prime Minister Imran Khan is against this move.

“But I think Prime Minister Imran Khan is saying that ‘no we should not allow people or armed fighters to cross the border, because then the Kashmiri peoples cause will be affected.’”

Yusufzai say the protests by Ml Fazlur Rahman, the President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has put Imran Khan under pressure since July last year after his party flopped and lost the Pakistani election.
