A Daily Vox journalist says Indian South Africans are not persecuted and statistics show that they have a better quality and standard of living in the country than other racial groups.

Fatima Moosa was speaking to Radio Islam on Monday about research she conducted on the value of Indians in the fabric of South African society compared to other races in the country.

In her research, Moosa states that while many Indian South Africans do occupy the lower economic strata and might suffer from being “forgotten by the government”, the majority of Indian South Africans do occupy major positions of power within the country whether it is in government or business.

“Obviously in South Africa we know there’s different racial groups, different class groups. We know that class plays a big role. But when looking at the statistics overall, it just paints a [different] picture.”

Moosa says there may be inequalities within the various racial groups that should be addressed.

“We know within different communities, there different class backgrounds and I think within those we need to interrogate obviously the class perspective.”

Moosa concludes her research saying ignoring realities in a country where the vast majority of black South Africans live in inequality is plainly racist adding that constantly bringing up oppression and talks of “back in the day we had better services” is racist as well.
