African National Congress (ANC) deputy secretary general Jesse Duarte says the party will not stop calling for justice for the Palestinians.

The party together with its tripartite alliance and league members left a memorandum of demands at the Israeli embassy in Lynwood, Pretoria.

The Israeli embassy refused to accept the memorandum.

The ANC says it stands in solidarity with Palestinians demanding an end the recent devastating attacks by Israeli occupation forces and surrender the land back to the Palestinian people.

Duarte says Israel has called her anti-semitic because of her solidarity with the Palestinians.

“That is the most stupid thing to say when you are in the wrong. You look for a reason to keep people quiet, it’s not going to happen.”

Duarte has called for the Israeli embassy in South Africa to be shutdown.

“Go home, go and talk about what you are doing wrong. We will come and talk to you and help you to bring about peace, but please go home.”

Gauteng Premier David Makhura says more pressure must be put on Israel.

“The Palestinian people are experiencing apartheid aggression everyday. So we are out here because there is injustice. An injustice anywhere threatens justice everywhere as Martin Luther would say. We are people who hate injustice.”

Makhura says the party supports the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom.

“The Palestinian people must know we are trembling with indignation at the sight of that injustice being carried out by apartheid Israel. The Israeli embassy must know we are trembling, we can’t sleep, we are trembling with indignation at the sight of that injustice. We can’t allow injustice to continue anywhere in the world and there can be no freedom in one country if other people are denied their freedom.”

At least 274 Palestinians including 66 children and 39 women were by killed by Israeli occupation forces while scores of others were wounded.

On Monday, social activist in Gaza told Radio Islam that following the devastating attack on Gaza, the enclave remains calm as Gazans start the process of rebuilding their homes after the war.
