Political analyst Nic Borain has told Radio Islam that former President’s Jacob Zuma claiming he is a victim of a conspiracy is clear indication he doesn’t understand the implication of his role in a number of scandals including his alleged close links to the controversial Gupta family.

Zuma is currently testifying in the Zondo Commission into State Capture in Parktown.

The former president endured a second day of testimony into State Capture and it was a day of denials, memory loss and the victim card.

Borain says Zuma is trying to deflect away from what he has really done.

“This is a man either who doesn’t understand what he has done or why it is criminal to have associated in the manner that he has with the Gupta’s and involved himself in the economy and helped his children and set up ANN7.”

Borain says Zuma’s support base is dwindling.

“I think his support continues to dwindle. Obviously there supporters at high levels in the ANC like Ace Magashule who were very much part of what has become known as state capture.”

The former president also told the chair of the commission of inquiry into state capture, Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, about a threat to his children, senior counsel advocate Muzi Sikhakhane, and his own life.
