A political analyst has told Radio Islam that factionalism in the African National Congress (ANC) is beginning to ruin the party.

This comes after the announcement of whom the ANC chose as candidates to chair the different committees, which are key parliamentary posts as they direct and drive MPs’ oversight and legislative work, saw a slew of Zuma loyalists making the grade.

They include people like Faith Muthambi, Mosebenzi Zwane, Joemat-Pettersson and Bongani Bongo, all of whom are controversial figures who have been named in alleged corruption.

Speaking to Radio Islam, Nteboheleng Tsehla says while Magashule is making sure he has his own people in his corner to support him, it’s not good for the ANC.

“You can see that the two leaders are not getting along and you can see that the unity is really a big farce within the ANC and that everybody seems to be pulling in their different ways and pulling their way to make sure that their support system or their support base stays intact and rooted.”

Before discussions had been held on “each and every” name on a list to which the ANC top six officials then made some changes, the ANC chief whip Pemmy Majodina said “We don’t approach deployment in a factional manner… We deploy on experience and capacity”.
