A geo-political analyst says the twentieth anniversary of the terror attacks and the battle with Al-Qaeda began during the battle of Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993.
Damimola Olawuyi was speaking to Radio Islam on Tuesday about relevance of the US terror attacks and its relevance to Africa during the Africa Report.
The 9/11 attacks was the largest on American soil since World War II.
Olawuyi says Osama bin Laden initiated the services for militias on the African continent.
“Osama bin Laden actually sent training and funding to the Somali militiamen that killed several American special operatives in the battle that is now commemorated in the movie “Black Hawk Down.”
Olawuyi says the African continent continues to reel from the US war on terror.
“As ISIS affiliates all over Africa continue to wreak havoc, it is important to remember that even though Afghanistan might have changed in its nature as the battlefield, let us remember those people who live everyday on the frontline of this war here in Africa.”
Olawuyi also shared updates about Rwanda’s intervention in Mozambique, COVID-19 vaccination in the developed world and climate change fueling conflicts
